What constitutes open data?

  • free of charge and restriction, under an open license

    • ​​data must be available to the public without registration or restrictive licenses, such as copyright​
  • technically open

    • data must be published in machine-readable formats, and outputted in a self-servable way​

  • properly documented

    • all the necessary descriptions, metadata, and other informative documentation must be available and in appropriate format​
